Decibel ("we", "our", or "us") built this app to turn things you want to read into audio you can listen to. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and what control you have.
What we collect
Account information
When you sign up, we collect your email address and create a user profile. We use this to authenticate you and sync your episodes across devices.
Content you add
When you save a URL, paste text, or share something to Decibel, we store that content to generate your audio episode. We also store the resulting audio file.
Voice recordings
If you use the voice recording feature, your audio is sent to our servers for transcription. Recordings are processed and stored as episodes in your account.
Usage data
We collect basic usage information (which features you use, when you open the app) to improve the product. We do not sell this data.

Third-party services
Decibel uses the following services to operate:
Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage (supabase.com/privacy)
Apple / App Store — payment processing and subscription management (apple.com/legal/privacy)
Superwall — subscription and paywall management (superwall.com/privacy)
Article content is fetched from public URLs using a server-side proxy. We do not store the raw HTML — only the extracted text used to generate your episode.
Data storage and retention
Your data is stored on servers in the United States. We retain your account data and episodes for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us.
Your rights
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time. Contact us at [email protected] and we'll respond within 30 days.
Children
Decibel is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy. If we make significant changes, we'll notify you in the app. The effective date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version.
